Poor Schools Don’t Get “Fair Share”: Education Department

During the high-school revolution, the United States was a huge investor in education, far outstripping other countries in terms of enrollment and graduation. However, in more contemporary times, the US has begun to falter, with other nations catching up and even surpassing the US enrollment and graduation rates. Part of the reason may be due to the funding bias recently revealed in a survey of 13,000 school districts by the US Department of Education. In the survey, it was revealed that poorer public schools tended to receive less funding from state and local programs than that of their richer counterparts. This funding disparity is doing little to help close the performance gap between richer and poorer public school districts. This is just one of potentially many factors for the stagnating education achievements in America.
