Is education no longer worth it?

A degree and college education have been very prized over the past 50 years, but is it really worth it? The returns on investment in education appear to be smaller than thought and this has resulted in people questioning whether it is worth their time and effort to invest in an education. However, rather than the salaries for educated workers getting smaller, the price of an education is getting drastically larger. It is this factor that is resulting in the diminishing of returns on an investment in education. In the next 10 years will people decide that an education is not worth the price and the opportunity cost? Will this result in a population that is less educated? And how will this affect the economy?
