Bank Runs: Are they a relic of the 20th century?

One of the most interesting topics of class was the brief comparison of the Great Depression with the recent financial crisis. While many think of bank runs as being a relic of the 20th century with the emergence of the FDIC, the author of this article makes an interesting point that bank runs are still evident in the recent financial crisis, except its lenders rather than consumers who are demanding their money.
