More Women Are Entering the Labor Force

I found this article from the Gettysburg Times, dated September 7, 1976 that relates to what Professor Boustan spoke about in class yesterday. The article talks about how the chief economist from the Ford administration estimated that the unemployment rate was at its highest for the year because more women are entering the labor force than expected. This is because those unemployed yet still actively seeking a job are considered as part of the labor force. The article further states the both Ford and Greenspan were disappointed at the increase in the unemployment rate.
Also, take a look at the rest of the articles in the newspaper- it's really interesting to see the kinds of things people read about back then!
