Immigration policies have restricted foreigners in many countries, but diaspora is good for building connections and relations abroad, especially if you want to establish businesses overseas. Also, studies show that although migrants make up an eighth of the U.S population, they are responsible for founding a quarter of the engineering & engineering firms. And, by linking the West with emerging markets, diasporas help rich countries to plug into fast-growing economies.
