Economic security is the amount you would need to get by without public subsidies; this is the borderline before you are defined as being in poverty. 45% of US residents are living without economic security. The biggest contributors to this percentage are households led by single mothers, Hispanic households, and African-American households. In this economy, even full-time workers are struggling to keep their heads above water.
