More People Collecting on Unemployment Benefits

Before the recent recession, only about 50% of people age 25 and up were collecting their unemployment benefits; this number is now up to 85%. Only 3% of nonparticipating unemployed are choosing not to take advantage of their unemployment benefits. People are now more willing to collect on their unemployment benefits rather than forgo them as they did before. I take it people are less confident in their abilities to find employment now than a few years ago.
