Chinese Immigrants

In 1882, the Chinese immigrants faced a rough time, because the U.S. Congress passed the Chinese Exclusion Act to prevent further immigrants. However, after the Chinese Exclusion Act was repealed in 1943 and the last barriers to Chinese immigration was removed in the 1964 Immigration and Nationality Act, more and more Chinese people have come to the U.S..  Today, highly educated and skilled Chinese immigrants enter the U.S. for seeking better job opportunities such as fields of high-tech and engineering. In addition, many students and visitors from all over China come to the U.S. every year. The U.S. State Department just decided that 50 new visa offices will go to China to speed up the visa rate. Increasing Chinese immigrants is a trend today. As learned in the class, immigrants are positively selected from all sending countries today. Therefore, more highly educated and skilled Chinese immigrants are good for the U.S. who is still struggling in the recession.
